Advent Week 3: Joy

Scripture Passages: Matthew 13:18-23 (esp. vs. 20-21), Romans 15:8-13 (esp. v. 13), Galatians 5:22, Romans 8:31-39, James 1:2-4, Romans 5:1-5, John 15, John 16:16-24, John 17:13, Psalm 16:11 (recommended to read entire chapter), John 14:6 Key Thoughts: God is the God of Hope and His work fills us, joy and peace are the byproducts of a relationship with Christ, joy cannot be found outside of the Holy Spirit because it's an aspect of the Fruits of the Spirit, how believers should respond to 2020/COVID pandemic, Would we really know joy without struggles?, we are called to walk in His way and know His Word Quote: "You will get peace just as the florist gets his flower from the bulb; but you will never get the bulb from the flower. Take the tulip and try it. That fine flower will come up if you put in that ugly bulb into the ground and give it time; you will get the glory of the flower ere long; but take the flower and put it into the best prepared earth, and see if you will ever get the bulb. Now joy and peace are the soul’s flower, and if you get faith into the ground joy and peace will come of it; but if you get joy and peace first and say, “Now I believe,” no you do not, it is not believing; it is the very opposite to it. You must not therefore reverse the laws and rules of right procedure (from Charles Spurgeon)."
