1977 was a special year for me. I was 10 years old … and only concerned about nothing but sports and The Six Million Dollar Man (Popular TV show to my generation). I attended a summer camp my home church was sponsoring that July.

It was a Thursday night during a worship rally at camp…and God called my name! (John 10:27)

Wow! I remember sensing the salvation movement of God in my life with a clear understanding, for the first time, that I was a sinner. (Isaiah 53:6)

I realized that I was separated from God – and that I needed a Savior. (Jn 3:16)

When the invitation was given, and children and students were given the opportunity to respond – I could not sit still. I made my way toward the front stage and said yes! Yes! Jesus, I believe in you. (1 John 1:9)

That night, in July of 1977, God called my name! I listened, responded, and repented. I said “yes”.

This simple, rambunctious, stubborn little boy was saved. I was born again according to John 3 – and spiritual, new life was real. I became brand new on the inside. The Holy Spirit performed regeneration in my soul. Grace was extended to me. Justification declared. Peace with God granted for all eternity.

2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature: the old things passed away; behold, new things have have come.”

Praise be to God. Jesus saves!
