One of my favorite desserts is a Lemon Apricot Pound Cake.  It is probably one of my favorites because of the memories that surround it as much as the flavor.  I grew up hearing the story (even heard the story as recently as Christmas) about my Grandmother sending my dad a whole cake in the mail while he was away at college.  He and his roommate would lock themselves in their dorm room and proceed to eat the entire cake in one setting.  They were college football players and burning the calories pretty quickly.  During my college years, on several occasions I received the same care package!  For a single guy learning how to cook that was one go the greatest treats to ever receive in the mail.

/we are considering the importance of the Bible for our lives.  Does your appetite for it find any similarity to your appetite for your favorite dessert?  When I eat my favorite foods, I am sure that there is some kind of “happy sound” that I make.  It might be an exclamation, it might be a slight moan of delight as my tastebuds explode.  One thing is for sure, if you were watching me there would be no doubt that I was enjoying that dessert.

Look over these verses and take note at the way in which the Palmist describes his love for the Word of God.

Psalm 119:47     Psalm 119:48     Psalm 119:97       Psalm 119:113      Psalm 119:119     Psalm 119:127      Psalm 119:163

Loving the truth is a matter of enjoying life, enjoying people, and enjoying the Lord Himself.  When you read the Bible does your love for it and for God Himself find a reflected pleasure in your response, be it in attitude, action, faith, hope, and peace?  Lord teach us to love Your Word that we would be more like Jesus in every way!
