Oswald Chambers wrote,

“What is the thing that not only disturbs you, but makes you a disturbance? It is always something you cannot deal with yourself.”

This reminds me of why we are dependent upon the grace of God for salvation and sanctification by the gospel of Jesus.

Yesterday’s message, “The Power Behind the Launch” (Acts 1:6-8), focused on the people of God, being empowered by God, for the mission of God. If there is to be any power for us in our lives, then we must answer the question posed by Chambers by a willingness to depend upon Jesus and His work in our lives. That is the only way we will defeat sin, walk in holiness and declare the message of Christ effectively.

Let us be “compelled by the love of Christ to no longer live for ourselves but for him who died for us and was raised” (2 Cor 5:14-15), so that the things we cannot deal with, especially oneself, is turned over to Jesus by faith so as to walk in the new life found in Christ.
