Don Spainhoward – Deacon of Campus Operations

How did you become a believer?

My parents did their best to encourage my belief in God. However, I credit the growth of my faith and becoming a believer through life experience and friendships with mature Christians. Throughout the years, my faith has matured through many life experiences. One of the most significant experiences was when my wife, Shea, and I were presented with many challenges during the adoption of our son, Oliver.

Tell me about your family:

My wife (Shea), daughter (Leanne), and son (Oliver) have lived in and around Springfield, TN for the past 10 years. My wife is a Registered Nurse and I work for the Army as a civilian employee, managing operations and training.

What book of the Bible is dearest or most meaningful to you? Why?

The Book of the Bible that has had the greatest impact on my Biblical walk is the book of John. John 6:37-38 says, “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.” I feel that John articulates the love and purpose of Jesus Christ the best. The apostle John explains Jesus’ walk and His gift of eternal life to us through His sacrifice.

What are your hobbies/interests?

When not spending time with my family, I enjoy hunting and fishing.
